It is only 17 feet (5.2 m) wide and, as a result, it is normally one-way northbound because of the side clearances required. I was watching the series 'Widows' from the 80s and spotted this in the Aldwych underpass. The tramway station should not to be confused with Aldwych tube station.

The new underpass was built by John Mowlem & Co and opened on 21 January 1964. Aldwych tramway station was a tram stop that was underneath Kingsway.
